Jurisdiction: These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. However, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a UK consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which apply notwithstanding any choice of law.
Eligibility to Purchase
- By placing an order, you confirm that all details provided are accurate and complete.
- You must be at least 18 years of age or have the consent of a legal guardian to make purchases on our website.
Products and Pricing
- Prices for the UK market are displayed in Pounds Sterling (GBP) unless otherwise stated.
- For consignments with a value of £135 or less, UK VAT is charged at checkout where required. For orders above £135, import VAT, customs duties and clearance charges may be levied by HMRC or the carrier on delivery and are the responsibility of the customer unless stated otherwise at checkout.
- We reserve the right to adjust prices, descriptions, or availability of products without prior notice.
- While we strive for accuracy, errors in pricing or product descriptions may occur. If an error is found, we reserve the right to cancel or amend orders as needed, subject to your statutory rights.
Order Placement and Acceptance
- Once an order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email. This does not signify acceptance of your order; it indicates that your order has been received.
- We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order due to suspected fraud, unauthorized payment, or product unavailability. If your order is cancelled by us, any amount paid will be refunded in full.
Shipping and Delivery
- Orders are shipped within the specified timeframe listed on the website. Unless otherwise agreed, goods will be delivered without undue delay and in any event within 30 days of the order being placed, as required by UK law.
- Sophie & Lila is not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers or customs clearance that are outside our reasonable control; where delivery within the agreed or statutory period is not made, you have the remedies available under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- It is the customer's responsibility to provide accurate shipping details. Incorrect addresses may result in additional charges or delays.
Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period)
As a UK consumer buying at a distance, you have the legal right to cancel your order under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013:
- You may cancel at any time from placing your order until 14 days after the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods, without giving a reason. This right applies to all items, including sale items.
- To exercise this right, notify us at support@sophie-lila.com with a clear statement of your decision to cancel within the cancellation period, and return the goods to us within 14 days of telling us you wish to cancel. You bear the direct cost of returning the goods.
- We will reimburse the price paid and standard outbound delivery charges within 14 days of receiving the goods back (or of you providing evidence of having sent them), using the same payment method you used.
- We may reduce your refund to reflect any diminished value of the goods caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
- The right to cancel does not apply to sealed hygiene-sensitive items (such as intimate wear) that have been unsealed after delivery.
Returns and Refunds — Faulty or Misdescribed Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not:
- Within 30 days of delivery you are entitled to reject the goods and receive a full refund.
- After 30 days, you are entitled to a repair or replacement and, if that fails, a price reduction or refund.
- We will bear the reasonable cost of returning faulty or misdescribed goods.
Our voluntary refund policy is outlined separately and forms part of these Terms of Service. Any exclusions in that policy (e.g., sale items, electronic items, intimate wear) apply to goodwill returns only and do not limit your statutory cancellation right or your rights in respect of faulty goods.
Liability
- To the extent permitted by law, Sophie & Lila is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of our products or website.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any matter for which liability cannot be excluded or limited under UK law, including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and, where applicable, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of your information as outlined in that policy.
